This project will be about migration and integration from 1945 to now. First of all we study the history of migration concerning the countries involved in the project. The students will think about the different kinds of migration and the reasons why people leave their home countries. After that we will focus on the problems resulting in the participating countries. In this subject we have to look at both sides of the problem: What are the problems for an immigrant when he wants to be integrated in another society and culture? What problems have modern societies like: Italy, the Netherlands and Germany to integrate people with another cultural background? It is elementary for us to find possible solutions and tools we can provide for students, teachers, school management, city council etc. to enable to cope with these problems. The solutions we find will be transferred to the curriculum in our schools to change behaviour and attitudes. So the final aim is to enable students to make the right choices and form their own opinion about the covered subject.
At the end of the project we want to produce a guide (brochure, website...) with recommendations for other schools how to handle these problems and integrate pupils with different migration background into school and society.
During our project we want the pupils to work together in international teams and look at the problems from different angles. The students of the three schools will work together and share their findings on a regular basis via email, Facebook or using video conferencing (skype) technology. This will supplement the three conferences taking place in the three schools that participate in the project. In these conferences about 80 students from all partners are involved!
